For 14 years, WIOFA has been providing teen cancer and blood disease patients at Advocate Children’s Hospital opportunities to connect with one another and take part in unique, world class experiences at no cost. In 2023, the Teen Hematology and Oncology Support Group planned eight outings for teens, creating over 100 opportunities for an oncology and hematology patient to do and see something that might never have, take an opportunity to experience something new, or make a lifelong friend they normally wouldn’t have if not for their shared circumstances.
Each holiday season, we partner with the Support Group organizers to come up with a “wish list” of the most popular Support Group Outings they want to plan for the upcoming year. Our holiday goal is to ensure we can give every teen an opportunity to create new friendships and adventures together. As 2023 comes to a close, the Child Life Specialists and Creative Arts Therapists are hard at work planning for next year and you have an opportunity to be part of creating a lasting impact in 2024.
For our 3rd Annual Wish List, you have an opportunity to directly support an oncology and hematology patient by helping fully fund costs for one teen to attend an outing. Supporters like you have brought so much light and joy to teens all over Chicagoland. Each year the demand grows for more teens to attend our outings, and each year WIOFA supporters deliver.
